We all know Grumpy Cat, not only for his adorable angry face, but also for the hilarious memes he has brought to the internet galaxy. Since Grumpy Cat, memes have merely evolved to be even cuter and funnier. There was troll face, Doge, success kid, crying Michael Jordan, and most recently, Spongebob memes. So many SpongeBob memes.

Millennials and Gen-Zers are using and sending them every day. They’re even getting the boomers in on it, too. So there is no need to worry, these golden memes aren’t going to stop rolling any time soon. Here are a few more reasons why memes are definitely here to stay for years to come.

1. Who doesn’t like to laugh?

A meme, even defined by Webster Dictionary, is supposed to be humorous. The secret is not only because they are silly in nature, but because there is a meme for every type of humor out there. Some love watching cute gifs of puppies and kittens playing, others like seeing epic fails, or puns and wordplay memes. Of course, we have all seen a meme fitting of these categories and many more.

2. Memes evolve!

Like we said before, memes have evolved since Grumpy cat. For example, recently, there have been many Disney and Nickelodeon memes resurfacing because Gen Z and Millenials want to commemorate their childhood filled with Hannah Montana and Danny Phantom. Additionally, memes have grown from simple images with text to GIFs to videos within a matter of years. Memes are just going to keep advancing to new content and different forms, and we at Snips are totally here for it.

3. They bring people together.

Surely at some point in recent history, you’ve heard ThE chIckEn sPonGEboB TeXT spoken by a friend or a complete stranger. That is the beauty of memes, you can simply say “that moment when” and anyone, even someone you just met, can complete the meme. This can apply to in person, but primarily online. The benefit of this, from an influencer perspective, is bringing your audience closer together. Snips loves to see your fans form a tighter bond through the memes you create!

4. You can better connect with your audience!

More so than bringing your supporters together, memes can help you and your audience get to know each other better! By creating your own branded memes or sharing existing memes, you can share your humor to your followers. This lets them get to know you as a person and what your interests are. Additionally, you can post different types of memes to get a sense of what kind of humor your audience has. Later on, you can post memes of your interests and theirs as well to gain a following and to keep their engagement on your posts high.

Overall, memes are not going extinct anytime soon. Lucky for us at Snips, we can help all influencers get started with or continue their meme posting with our Branded Memes tool!
